Call for Professional Development Proposals—Tibet and Himalayan Studies - Deadline Extended!

The Center for Asian Studies has funding available for CU Boulder faculty members who would like to develop Tibet and Himalaya related curricula for new or existing courses.

CAS will offer two faculty awards for the creation or significant revision of an undergraduate course on Tibet and the Himalaya area in any discipline or College. This opportunity is offered as part of a larger two-year initiative funded by a US Department of Education Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Languages (UISFL) grant. Funding will be provided for faculty to develop new courses with Tibet/Himalaya content or revise existing courses to add Tibet/Himalaya content, in order to enhance the area studies curriculum and build toward the Certificate of Tibetan and Himalayan Studies. Two $1500 stipends will be awarded.

Application Information:

All grants will be made in the amount of $1500 to support faculty engaged in curriculum research and development. Awards will be paid as summer salary (subject to taxes and withholding), or as reimbursement for travel or related expenses. Award period will be Summer 2021. However, if necessary, deferment of the award to Summer 2022 will be possible, due to COVID-19 travel restrictions and related limitations.

Please complete a Professional Development Grant Application and submit, along with appropriate attachments, to cas@colorado.edu. Proposals are due to CAS on Monday, March 22, 2021.

Award recipients will be asked to submit a report and syllabus for the new course during the fall semester following the award date. New or revised courses must be cross-listed with Asian Studies. Failure to do so will result in ineligibility for future CAS faculty awards.

Please direct any questions to CAS Executive Director Danielle Rocheleau Salaz (salaz@colorado.edu or 303-735-5312).
