Call for Applications: USINDO 2024 Summer Studies Program, June 3 - August 9, 2024, Indonesia

Become involved with Indonesia this Summer through our USINDO Summer Studies  program - an intensive ten-week language and cultural studies fellowship held in  Yogyakarta and Jakarta, Indonesia. Most costs are covered by USINDO.

Why USINDO Summer Studies Program?
 
For the past 25 years, the USINDO Summer Studies Program has earned an enviable reputation for preparing future leaders in U.S.-Indonesia engagement. USINDO Summer Studies is a specially designed program that offers language and cultural immersion as well as professional development opportunities. We have a network of 250 alumni, many of whom have returned to Indonesia in a professional and personal capacity or gone on to careers involving Indonesia.

The USINDO Summer Studies program includes:
1. Language
Attend 120 hours of Bahasa Indonesia class over a ten-week  period.
 
2. Cultural Workshops
Immerse yourself in Indonesian culture and deepen your appreciation  of the arts, dress and other activities.
 
3. Experiential Classrooms
Gain a genuine appreciation of Indonesia’s most pressing challenges by exploring a range of contemporary issues outside of the classroom.
 
4. Field Trips
Explore various natural and historical sites in and around Yogyakarta – the seat of classical Javanese culture in Indonesia.


5. Cross-Cultural Understanding
Engage in interactive discussions  and navigate the cultural differences  and commonalities. 

6. Host Families
Practice the Indonesian lifestyle and day-to-day activities by living with host families and connecting to the surrounding community.
 
7. Discover Jakarta
Embark on a three day sojourn to Jakarta for high-level meetings with senior government officials, business leaders, non-profit executives, and a wide range of activists.
