The Center for Asian Studies Special Event Fund is designed to provide support for larger events involving multiple speakers that may also have relevance to the annual theme. See below for a summary of funding types. Due to limited funding, we are unable to fund any undergraduate student-related events such as speech contests. We are currently accepting applications for the Fall 2017 semester. The deadline is March 3 for fall. Priority is given to proposals containing one or more following elements: a) multiple speakers, b) speakers engaged in multiple academic activities such as class visits and visits to other universities in the area, c) academic product or outcome following the visit, d) connection to a faculty member’s ongoing larger project, and e) is in sync with the CAS annual theme.  CAS handles most planning and logistical responsibilities, but the applicant is responsible for additional fundraising and hosting of visiting speakers. Please see application form for details on applicant and CAS responsibilities. CAS pays up to $3,000 total. Cost-sharing with other departments or units is highly encouraged but not required.

Please see our event funding information page for more information and to access the application form.
