Fredy González, professor of history at CU Boulder, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for the 2016-17 year. González's work focuses on Chinese immigrants in secret societies from the mid-19th century through the 1930s. In the 1920s, many leaders of different secret societies assassinated each other.

“I am hoping I can piece together a larger cause, to demystify that popular racism as a result of these conflicts,” González told CU Boulder Today. González arrived in Taipei in July.
