Join us for our final Luncheon Series event of Fall 2015 as we listen to Tim Weston, Associate Professor in the Department of History and Associate Director of the Center for Asian Studies, give a talk on his current book project.
In this talk he'll discuss portions of a chapter he's recently drafted for the book he's writing on journalism and journalists in late Qing and early Republican period China (1880s-1920s). In this chapter he's particularly interested in establishing a clear linkage between British imperialism and the spread of the newspaper as a type of institution throughout Asia, the materiality of the press, and the variety of press types that developed in the earliest stage of the process.
The talk will be on Tuesday, December 1, at 12:00 p.m., and will be held in the CAS Conference Room at 1424 Broadway (two doors north of Starbucks on University and Broadway).
