Asian Language Night 2013 was held on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at HUMN 1B50 from 5:30pm to 8pm, followed by a reception at the HUMN lobby from 8pm to 9pm. Language students of Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Hindi-Urdu, Japanese, and Korean, from beginning to advanced levels, performed skits, songs, dances and movies. In addition to language students, the audience included professors, friends of students, and many others from the community who learned about this annual event and came to enjoy the fun. Approximately 150 people attended the event. An English translation was provided for each presentation, through which attendees were able to understand and enjoy the performances, even if they did not know the languages themselves. There was laughter and excitement throughout the event, and it was a great learning experience for all. We hope that the audience enjoyed the beauty of these languages, learned more about these cultures, and will consider enrolling in courses to learn one of these languages in coming semesters.
