Thanks to a generous grant from the Cressant Foundation, the Center for Asian Studies is offering two graduate research scholarships in pre-modern Japanese studies for 2013-14. The deadline for these scholarships has been extended to March 15, 2013.

Amount:  $1,000 each

Purpose:  Scholarships will cover research-related expenses, such as travel, per-diem, and fees associated with archive access.  Conference-related travel costs will also be considered.  Scholarships may not be used for tuition-related expenses.

Eligibility:  University of Colorado at Boulder MA and PhD students whose research focuses on pre-modern Japan are eligible.  Both US citizens and non-US citizens are welcome to apply.

Deadline March 15, 2013.

Application and Review Process:  Application materials include a two-page statement describing your research project and how the Cressant funding will contribute to it, a one-page budget, CV, and one letter of recommendation from your faculty supervisor.  All application materials (except letters of recommendation) should be submitted electronically as a single PDF document to the Center for Asian Studies (cas@colorado.edu).  Letters of recommendation should be emailed directly to CAS from faculty supervisors.  Applications will be reviewed by the Center for Asian Studies Student Affairs Committee.  Funds will be available for academic year 2013-14, including Summer of 2013.
