Xiaoan Sean Liu is a researcher and designer building human-centered, multimodal AI “thinking tools” that integrate speech, gaze, gesture, and spatial context to augment cognition, communication, and access to knowledge. His work spans mainstream devices—phones, PCs, and AR glasses—and includes Reality Proxy, a system enabling interaction with real-world objects through abstract digital proxies. He has conducted research with Google’s Blended Intelligence Research & Devices (BIRD) Lab, NYU’s Future Reality Lab, and the University of Minnesota. His publications include UIST 2025 and SIGGRAPH Asia XR 2024, alongside open-source AR/WebXR toolkits released to the community. Xiaoan holds an M.P.S. from NYU ITP and a B.E. in Interaction Design from Jiangnan University.
