ATLS 5519-001 Spectrum Mgmt & Policy
Maymester MTWThF 12:30 - 3:30 Dale Hatfield & David Reed
How is spectrum policy developed and implemented? A general framework is developed for understanding telecommunications law and regulatory objectives. Analyzes international and domestic dimensions of spectrum policy. Considers how economics, administrative processes and innovative technologies affect management of the spectrum.
ATLS 4519-111 (Im)practical Programming
Session A TWTh 2:20 - 4:50 Anthony Pinter
Gain hands-on experience in designing solutions to problems, and putting those solutions into practice using computational thinking and programming. Students will be exposed to a variety of problems that programming can be leveraged to solve. Taught primarily in Python, topics covered include code-breaking, automation, one-line scripts, and clean code. Complete daily projects and a final project building.
ATLS 4519-750 Biomaterials
Session B TWTh 1:00 - 3:30 Fiona Bell
Use a combination of creative and technical skills to make, analyze and design with biomaterials. Begin with a brief introduction to design theories including biodesign, sustainable design, material-centered design, and more-than-human design. followed by a crash course on making biomaterials such as algae-based bioplastics and compost-based clays and fabricating interactive interfaces from them.
ATLS 3519-051 Intermedia Motion Capture
Augmester MTWTh 9:30 - 12:40 Brad Gallagher
Hands-on workshops on using the Qualisys Motion Capture system to track objects and skeletons and use this tracking data to create interactive multimedia. Use the cognitive theory of conceptual blending and performance exercises as generative tools to develop an interactive intermedia performance or installation.
ATLS 3519-052 Immersive Audio & Ambisonics
Augmester MTWTh 1:00 - 4:10 Sean Winters
Learn to use the 44-channel audio system in the ATLAS Black Box Experimental Studio. Produce sonic content from scratch for ambisonic diffusion, record 3D sound fields and learn the tools needed to edit/mix ambisonic content. Experiment with effectively and tastefully utilizing large speaker arrays in live-performance contexts.
ATLS 4519 / 5519-051 B2B Entrepreneurship
Augmester MTWTh 9:00-12:10 Gabor Molnar
Learn B2B (Business-to-Business) entrepreneurship and delve into entrepreneurial thinking. Using lectures, case studies, in-class exercises, and simulations, the course centers on the themes of interdisciplinary and international, focusing on operational Artificial Intelligence. Especially relevant for those who want to launch their own business, pursue employment with a start-up firm, or work in a business-to-business environment for a non-profit or for-profit enterprise.
