Spring 2020 Capstone Projects

CTD Capstone (previously TAM Capstone) is a rigorous, two-semester course sequence required for all Creative Technology & Design majors. Normally taken during the senior year, it involves the completion of a culminating project that goes through multiple rounds of faculty review and iteration. Students develop projects of their own choosing. Typically, students share their work during the spring ATLAS Expo and during class presentations. This year, 46 projects were shared virtually during a marathon 12-hour Zoom session attended by families, friends and guest reviewers from around the country. This small collection of project presentations gives a sense of the kind of work students complete in the CTD program. For more, you can view all spring 2020 project presentations here.

This online education platform, created by Alex Fiel, is centered around connecting existing educational resources into a navigable “city” visualization. Resources are structured as a city, with similar subjects forming “neighborhoods.” When finished, users will be able to navigate the paths through the city or browse, documenting their learning with projects along the way.

Flow Room

Inside a “meditation cave” that Nate Bennett and Elsa Roeber created from paper and wire, Flow Room provides a space on the CU Boulder campus to find a sense of calm. Users activate the space by placing their smartphones in a holder by the entrance. They then select a natural environment to emulate by moving one of several stones to the center of a circle, which triggers forest sounds, a mountain stream, a thunderstorm and others. Visitors may also watch a fractal visualization projected on the cave wall.
