The College of Arts and Sciences is holding its first-ever student art competition for all arts and sciences students

What do the liberal arts mean to you?

That’s the question the College of Arts and Sciences is asking arts and sciences students to reflect on and answer by creating a piece of art for its first-ever student art competition.

Winning submissions will be featured prominently in the College of Arts and Sciences annual print magazine, on the arts and sciences websites, and possibly even featured physically on campus. Winning artists will also receive $200, $100 and $50 for first, second and third places, respectively.

Deadline to submit is 11:59 p.m., July 31, 2020

Types of art accepted

Any type of art is acceptable — drawings, paintings, digital design, sculpture — as long you are able to create and submit a digital image of your creation and it reflects on the central question of the competition: "What do the liberal arts mean to you?"

Qualifications

Any students (graduate or undergraduate) within the College of Arts and Sciences are eligible to participate.

If a student is pursuing a dual major with a degree from a different college, they are still allowed as long as one of their degrees is within the college. Students who are only pursuing a certificate or minor in the college, but their major is elsewhere, are also allowed to submit, but first priority is given to those whose major is in the college.

Unsure if you qualify? A list of majors is available on the College of Arts and Sciences website.
