Resignation

A notice of intent to resign, due to leaving the university, is needed to process the separation of a staff member and must include the following:

  • Name
  • Employee ID
  • Unit
  • Position resigning from
  • Effective date of resignation (the day following the last day worked)

Process

  • Staff member submits intent to resign by sending an email to the Supervisor.
  • Unit forwards notice of intent to resign to the College of Arts and Sciences' Director of Personnel for review and acceptance.
  • College of Arts and Sciences' Director of Personnel generates an Acceptance of Resignation letter and routes via email to the following (which includes information pertaining to the Exit Checklist and leave payout procedure:
    • Employee
    • Supervisor
    • College of Arts and Sciences' Human Resources Service Center Unit Technician
    • Campus Human Resources Employee Relations
    • Campus Human Resources Personnel Records
    • College of Arts and Sciences' Budget Office
    • College of Arts and Sciences' Human Resources Manager (this notification triggers the College of Arts and Sciences' Human Resources manager to initiate conversation with Unit regarding backfilling the vacated position)
    • College of Arts and Sciences' Personnel File
  • Termination entered in HCM (Human Resources software) by College of Arts and Sciences' Human Resources Service Center.
  • Leave payout processed by the College of Arts and Sciences' Human Resources Service Center for units supported by the Human Resources Service Center or by Units themselves when not supported by the Human Resources Service Center.

Retirement

Employees preparing to retire, should consult the campus Human Resources Website for guidance and are encouraged to consult with Employee Services at 303-860-4200.

Transfer

A notice of intent to resign, due to transferring to another position at the University, is needed to process the separation of a staff member and must include the following:

  • Name
  • Employee ID
  • Unit
  • Position resigning from
  • Effective date of resignation (to avoid a break in service, for transfers, this date is equal to the start date of the new position)
  • Department transferring to

Process

  • Staff member submits intent to resign by sending an email to the Supervisor.
  • Unit forwards notice of intent to resign to the College of Arts and Sciences' Director of Personnel for review and acceptance.
  • College of Arts and Sciences' Director of Personnel generates an Acceptance of Resignation letter and routes via email to the following (which includes information pertaining to the Exit Checklist and leave payout procedure:
    • Employee
    • Supervisor
    • College of Arts and Sciences' Human Resources Service Center Unit Technician
    • Campus Human Resources Employee Relations
    • Campus Human Resources Personnel Records
