The American Music Research Center Journal was published annually from 1991 through 2019 to share scholarship on a wide range of topics, including music of the American West; African American music-making during Jim Crow; stories of music, migration, and diaspora; Native American music, and new music. It is available online here, and physical copies are available for purchase here.

In 2020, the AMRC launched a peer-reviewed publication, Americas: A Hemispheric Music Journal, a new and reimagined journal that takes its view of American music broadly, including the diverse soundscapes within the United States as well as the wider Americas, including the Caribbean.
