CU Students Excel at the 38th Colorado Japanese Speech Contest
We are pleased to share the outstanding results of our students at the 38th Colorado Japanese Speech Contest, held on November 15. Their performances reflected exceptional preparation, linguistic skill, and confidence, and we are proud to recognize their achievements.
Jonathan Nguyen (JPNS 4110) received the Award of Excellence (優秀賞) in the College IV category. Although this category had no other competitors, Jonathan delivered an outstanding performance that earned high praise from the judges.
Anya Cabanis (JPNS 3110) earned 2nd place (第2位) in the College III category, one of the most competitive divisions in this year’s contest.
Simon Stroup (JPNS 2110) received the Participation Award (参加賞) in the College II category, demonstrating a strong effort and commendable presentation.

The Colorado Japanese Speech Contest is a state-wide event featuring contestants from six universities across Colorado, including:
- University of Colorado Boulder
- University of Colorado Colorado Springs
- Colorado College
- Colorado State University
- University of Northern Colorado
- United States Air Force Academy
Participants present original speeches in Japanese and are evaluated on language accuracy, delivery, creativity, and overall presentation.
