The Diverse Scholars Peer Mentoring Program grew out of the development of the Leeds Diverse Scholars Program in 2001. Juniors and Seniors are matched with incoming DSP students in their first year to help them transition from high school to college. Mentors act as a resource and role model in the areas of academics, education, leadership, and professional development. To become a mentor, students must be active members in the Diverse Scholars community.

Mentorship is the cornerstone of the Diverse Scholars Program, which provides leadership opportunities for upperclassmen to engage and build meaningful relationships with first-year students as they support and lead programming initiatives.
