Tuition Rates

Winter Session tuition matches that of CE Online Credit; it is assessed at a per-credit hour rate in addition to any tuition paid on main campus. A single rate is charged regardless of a student’s in-state or out-of-state classification.

2022-2023 Academic Year

Credit Hours Undergraduate Graduate
1 $460 $676
2 $920 $1,352
3 $1,380 $2,028

Tuition Policy

You will be billed for your Winter Session registration through the Division of Continuing Education. Bills are available through Buff Portal. A 1% service charge is added to an unpaid balance after the tuition due date, and a financial stop is placed on your student record. All tuition and refund determinations are subject to audit.

Current CU Boulder Students:

  • Winter Session tuition through Continuing Education is charged in addition to main campus tuition when enrolled in both programs concurrently. For example, if you enroll in both main campus courses and a Continuing Education course in the same semester, you will be billed separately for the amount of your main campus tuition and CE tuition.
  • The College Opportunity Fund (COF) stipend cannot be applied.

Nondegree students:

  • Winter Session tuition is charged in addition to ACCESS rates when enrolled in both programs concurrently.

Billing Schedule and Payment Deadlines

Winter Session is part of the spring semester and therefore has the same bill payment due date of February 5, 2023. Bills are available in Buff Portal (CUBill&Pay for authorized payers) by the second Thursday of January after you register for classes. Payment is due on the 5th of the following month. Postmarks and post-dated checks are not honored. Dates may be subject to change without notice.

Visit the Bursar's Office website for billing and due dates

Payment Plans

You may be eligible to pay your tuition and fees in installments over the course of the current semester. Optional payment plans are available for undergraduate and graduate students or their authorized payers.

Financial Aid

You may be eligible to receive financial aid to assist with the cost of attending the Winter Session enrollment. In order to determine if you will be eligible to receive federal financial aid, please complete the 2022-2023 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Please contact the Office of Financial Aid with any questions. They are available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.—5 p.m. (MT) for walk-in appointments, by phone (303-492-5091), and by email (cefinaid@colorado.edu).

Please note that if you are not currently admitted to a degree program, you may be required to submit additional documentation and funding is typically limited to remaining undergraduate loan eligibility.
