If you are a graduate student at CU Boulder interested in joining our WGST Graduate Certificate Program, please fill out this form to get started. Once your application is received by our office, we will send you more details about our program, and setting up a meeting with the WGST graduate director to discuss the course requirements and answer any questions you may have. The graduate director will sign the final approval form once all the requirements have been met, and the certificate completion will be placed on your transcript only after you have completed your primary degree program.

(MA / MS / MFA / PHD + any specializations or specific degree plan)

To receive the WGST Graduate Certificate, you must complete 12 total credit hours, including 3 of the following 4 courses:

  • WGST 6090 Feminist Theories
  • WGST 6190 Feminist Methodologies
  • WGST 6796 Queer Theories
  • WGST 6290 Topics in Women and Gender Studies

The fourth required course should focus on issues related to women, gender, and/or sexuality, and it should take an interdisciplinary approach. It is advisable that the course be taken either outside the student’s home department or as an additional course in WGST. However, students may—with approval of the WGST graduate advisor—take it within their home departments. Independent study courses taken with faculty not affiliated with WGST will not count for the Graduate Certificate. Independent study courses taken with WGST faculty members may count only in exceptional circumstances as determined by the Graduate Committee.

If known, please include the course number and name of this fourth course you have taken or plan to take toward this requirement:
