Dr M Dinesh Kumar is Executive Director of Institute for Resource Analysis and Policy in Hyderabad, an Indian think-tank on water management founded by him, since 2008. He has offered consultancy services to many international agencies, including the World, FAO, ADB, US AID, Australian Council for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), UNICEF; international consulting firms such as Deltares and Sheladia Associates, and many national and state government agencies. He has more than 180 publications to his credit, including six books, seven edited volumes, several book chapters, and many international, peer-reviewed journal articles. He is currently also Associate Editor of Water Policy and Member of the Editorial Board of Int. Journal of Water Resources Development.
He has supervised many doctoral and master’s dissertations, and has been an external examiner for the evaluation of many Ph. D thesis from Indian and international universities. Dr Kumar holds a degree in Civil Engineering (B-Tech), Masters’ degree in Water Resources Management and a Ph. D in water management. He speaks English, Hindi, Malayalam and Gujarati. He has travelled extensively to two dozen countries around the world for official work.
