OPX Biotechnologies was founded in 2007 based on genomic engineering tools developed in the laboratory of Ryan Gill (CU Boulder Chemical and Biological Engineering). OPX manufactured bio-based chemicals from renewable feedstocks. They were acquired by food and agriculture giant Cargill in 2015.
