2.2—Integrated Smart Shading and Dynamic Insulation Systems for Energy-Efficient Buildings

Three complementary technologies that together transform how buildings interact with their environment. This integrated platform combines programmable, photovoltaic-equipped shading devices that track the sun and generate power; dynamic insulation systems with switchable phase change materials that actively store or release heat on demand; and adaptive interior or exterior shading elements that respond to occupant preferences and real-time daylight conditions. Working in concert, these systems intelligently manage heat flow, daylight and renewable energy generation—dramatically reducing heating, cooling and lighting loads while enhancing occupant comfort. Designed for both new constructions and retrofits, this holistic solution delivers scalable, data-driven energy savings and supports sustainable, net-zero building goals.
