Faculty and staff resources to support CU Boulder students

Your work with students plays an important role in their experience at CU Boulder. The Division of Student Life can complement that work with resources, expertise and connections that help you support students in and outside the classroom.

Whether you need a referral or consultation, want to bring a presentation or training to your class or team, or are looking for ways to support connection and engagement, Student Life departments are here to partner with you.

Bring career readiness into your classroom

Career Services helps you incorporate career preparation into courses, programs and conversations with students.

Request a tailored presentation or workshop for your class or student group on topics related to career exploration, navigation and job or internship searching. You can also use career readiness modules in Canvas or help students recognize the career-relevant skills they are building through coursework, projects and other experiences.

For ongoing resources, sign up for the Career Champions newsletter. Each issue provides timely career information, practical tips and resources you can use in your work or share with students, whether you teach, advise, mentor or supervise student employees.

Support students with disabilities

Disability Services partners with faculty and staff to help ensure students with disabilities have equitable access to their education and campus experience.

Faculty and staff can find resources and guidance on accommodations, accessibility and working with students registered with Disability Services. Disability Services also offers presentations and workshops for departments and groups on accessibility, accommodations, processes and related topics.

Build connection and community

The Center for Cultural Connections & Community partners with faculty and staff to foster connection and support students across campus.

Faculty and staff can participate in trainings and workshops, including LGBTQ+ Allyship in Higher Education (formerly Safe Zone) and UndocAlly. The Center also offers consultations for faculty and staff looking for guidance, resources or support related to their work with students.

Faculty and staff can also join the First-Generation Faculty and Staff Directory. The directory helps first-generation students connect with faculty and staff who are first-generation college graduates or allies and can offer guidance, answer questions and help students navigate their college experience.

Navigate student conduct and conflict

Student Conduct & Conflict Resolution (SCCR) can help faculty and staff navigate student behavior, conflict and academic integrity concerns.

Connect with SCCR to learn about the Student Code of Conduct, report a suspected Honor Code violation, get guidance for navigating conflict with a student or learn about restorative approaches to addressing harm.

SCCR also offers presentations for classes and departments on topics such as the Honor Code, conflict resolution, de-escalation, restorative justice and more.

Help a student who may be struggling

Faculty and staff are often in a position to notice when a student may need additional support. Student Outreach, Advocacy & Support (SOAS) and the Basic Needs Center (BNC) can help connect students with support and campus and community resources.

If you are concerned about a student’s well-being or notice significant changes in their behavior or circumstances, you can submit a referral to connect them with support.

You can also use the Red Folder to learn how to recognize signs of distress, respond to a student and connect them with appropriate resources.

Promote student health and well-being

Health Promotion partners with faculty, staff and students to build skills and create a campus environment that supports health and well-being.

Faculty and staff can attend trainings or request workshops and presentations for individual learning or for group such as teams, classes, departments and student organizations. Topics vary and can help build skills related to health and well-being while connecting you and your students with campus resources.

Partner with Student Life

Student Life departments work with faculty and staff across CU Boulder to support students inside and outside the classroom. From requesting a presentation or training to referring a student for additional support, these partnerships can help students build skills, find community, navigate challenges and make the most of their time at CU Boulder.
