“Rainn Wilson has led a very impactful career, not only with his work in entertainment, but beyond that, with his curiosity about what makes life meaningful,” said Annika Shikverg, chair of the Distinguished Speakers Board. “People know him for his unforgettable characters, but his work is bigger than that, offering a chance to explore life’s biggest questions about purpose and happiness.”

Wilson's experiences across acting, writing and storytelling offer perspectives on creativity, personal growth and finding meaning in unexpected places, Shikverg added.

“College is a time when students are still figuring out who they are and exploring what matters most to them,” Shikverg said. “We are very excited to hear from someone one who can make people laugh while also encouraging the audience to think differently about themselves and the world around them”

The event is open to students, faculty, staff and members of the community.

About the Distinguished Speakers Board

The Distinguished Speakers Board is a student-run board of CU Student Government dedicated to bringing speakers to campus who inspire conversation, challenge perspectives and encourage a diversity of thought.

The board connects the campus with influential voices across culture, politics, science, the arts and more. Past speakers have included Rebel Wilson, Giancarlo Esposito, Garry Kasparov, Anderson Cooper and Trevor Noah. Through these events, the board creates opportunities for students, faculty, staff and the Boulder community to engage with others in conversation and new ideas.
