Village Center Dining is the recipient of the 2025 Greenest University Restaurant Award from the Green Restaurant Association, a national nonprofit organization helping restaurants become more environmentally sustainable. As a 4 Star Certified Green Restaurant®, this award recognizes how the dining center has gone above and beyond to adopt sustainable initiatives and practices.

Sustainability efforts in action

Village Center Dining has implemented several steps to be more eco-friendly, including:

  • Generating 16% of its energy usage with on-site solar panels.
  • Composting waste in both back-of-house and front-of-house areas.
  • Using 100% energy-efficient LEDs for lighting.
  • Reusing greywater for irrigation.
  • Using bulk packaging for 80% of their condiments and 100% of their milks and creamers.

“This award reflects the collective dedication of Campus Dining & Hospitality, our partners and the entire campus community in advancing sustainability and innovation within our food service operations,” said Matt Bratton, interim director of Campus Dining & Hospitality.
