Communications Roles and Responsibilities Emerge From Conference

During our campus communicators conference in August, we conducted a series of tabletop exercises—built from similar exercises conducted last spring via the Strategic Messaging Alliance (SMA) working group—to help us generate a common understanding of:
- Our collective priorities
- The common obstacles we face in working to achieve those priorities
- Our respective roles and responsibilities as communicators across campus
Those tabletops have enabled us to generate a working set of roles and responsibilities that align with the phases of audience communication engagement and help to enable our collaborations through the SMA working model.
Based on the ideas generated during our tabletops, we have added our working roles and responsibilities as a core element of our integrated communications strategy, based on the type of communications we develop and the outcomes we envision. You can view the working definition on our Strategic Relations and Communications website.
