Since the inception of the SWx TREC Deep Learning Laboratory, student efforts have been a cornerstone of DLL research into using machine learning for space weather applications. During this talk, I will discuss the contributions undergraduate students have made to SWx research, including solar flare forecasting, magnetogram super-resolution, and explainable artificial intelligence. While these projects have been inherently valuable to the wider scientific community, they serve another purpose: workforce development. I will delve into why technical workforce development is necessary and relevant and what methods the DLL has used to improve undergraduate professional development resources.
