Mathieu Desan

Biography

Mathieu Hikaru Desan (PhD, University of Michigan, 2016) is a historical sociologist with substantive interests in social theory, political sociology, and cultural sociology.  His work has been published in Sociological Theory, Comparative Studies in Society and History, Political Power and Social Theory, History of the Human Sciences, Critical Sociology, and Thesis Eleven. He is the author of Order, Authority, Nation: Neo-Socialism, Fascism, and Political Conversion in Interwar France (Cambridge University Press, 2026).
