Julienne is from Melbourne, Australia and obtained an undergraduate degree in Zoology from the University of Melbourne. She came to the U.S. to do doctoral work with Rich Glor at the University of Rochester on signal divergence and speciation in the charismatic Anolis lizards. She brought her skills in phylogenetics and color evolution to the Smith lab in the fall of 2013. Her research projects examine the mechanisms of red flower evolution in Solanaceae and the processes that give rise to 'tippy' trait distributions, and she has continuing work in the anole system.
