As part of the Petunieae flower color project, Julienne traveled to Brazil to collect members of the diverse Petunieae tribe. Her trip, in collaboration with the laboratory of Dr. Loreta Frietas, took her around the southeast and southwest, where she collected several species of Petunia, Calibrachoa and Brunfelsia.
