Invention Literacy with Makey Makey (Grades 4-8)

Can you make your own video game controller? Can you use play-doh to type on a computer? How can you make

 your own digital musical instrument using household materials? Invention Literacy with Makey Makey uses simple and easy to use technology interfaces (Makey Makeys) as platforms for exploring opportunities to incorporate innovation, invention, and invention literacy in the classroom. With options for beginner and experienced users, the workshop will provide the materials and opportunities for participants to learn and apply STEM content to an innovation design challenge. 

Supports CDE Academic Standards for Physical Science.

Group size: Up to 30 students
Grades: 4-8
Cost: 

  • $180 set-up fee
  • 1 to 3 sessions on the same day: $115 per session. A fourth or fifth session in the same day is $150 per session. 
  • $30 layover fee per hour when any two programs more than one hour apart. 
  • Travel fees are generally waived for nearby schools. Additional travel fees may be incurred on a case-by-case basis. 
  • Discounts available based on financial need and availability of funds.
