Teen Science Café: April 13

The last Café of the school year features Dr. Carmen Sucharov, faculty at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus where she researches different causes of heart failure in children. While rare, children do suffer from heart failure and are even candidates for heart transplants. Nonetheless, the treatment of heart failure in children is mostly based on the results of tests done on adults with heart failure. Dr. Sucharov and her lab are working to change this by studying heart disease from a molecular biology perspective. Her team is asking what’s going wrong at a sub-cellular level and how can scientists create better targeted therapies to fix these problems? If you’re interested in biomedical research, pre-med pathways, or just want to learn more about the physiology of your heart cells, don't miss this Café! Thursday, April 13; 5:30-7pm
