Congratulations Judy Chen!

The RPM Group is delighted to congratulate Judy for receiving the Marilyn and Howard L. Anseth Outstanding Undergraduate Research Assistant Award!  

Judy worked as an undergraduate research assistant with Dr. Alexis Phillips to study liquid crystalline elastomers as stretchable, adjustable light filters that selectively reflect light in the mid-wave infrared spectrum. She went on to the present these works at ACS Denver 2024 as well as the 2024 AIChE Annual Student Conference, where she won second place in her category for Material Engineering and Science. Judy later pursued an independent study with Dr. Joselle McCracken focused on utilizing programs like CADFusion, Solidworks, and MATLAB to simulate effects on liquid crystal patterns.
