Virtual Permits for Students

Your License Plate is Your Parking Permit

A virtual permit means that a physical hangtag will no longer be issued. License plate information is registered and associated with your vehicle(s), meaning your license plate serves as the parking permit and authorizes parking in a specific lot or zone. (Note: parking at meters, pay station lots or other permit lots may require additional payment or authorization.)

Adding a New Vehicle

Virtual permits are verified with License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology through CU Boulder enforcement. The license plates of the vehicle(s) permit holders plan to drive to campus must be registered. You may add a new vehicle/license plate by signing into your parking account or calling the PTS customer service office.

Placing Your Permit on Hold

A virtual permit can be placed on hold by sending an email to parkingpermits@colorado.edu and specifying the date the permit should be deactivated. To reinstate a permit, another email needs to be sent to parkingpermits@colorado.edu including the date to reactivate the permit.

Cancelling Your Permit

A virtual permit can be cancelled by sending an email request by the 10th of the month to stop payroll deduct. If you need a temporary permit for the balance of the month, contact our customer service office at (303) 735-PARK (7275).

Alternate Parking Arrangements

All lots are subject to special event parking arrangements. If a planned event or a construction project requires assignment to a different lot, you will be notified via email. The LPR will verify that you are valid in the assigned alternate lot.

Motorcycle Permits

Motorcycle permits will be issued as stickers.

Campus Department Business Permits

Campus Department Business Permits will continue to be issued as hangtags. Personal virtual permits will be valid with campus departmental hangtags.

Overflow Lots

Virtual permits are valid only in the designated primary or overflow lot(s) as shown in the confirmation email issued with each permit. Use overflow lot(s) only when your primary permitted lot is full.

Parking and Traffic Regulations

Permit holders are responsible for compliance with all parking and traffic regulations.
