The University of Colorado Boulder has a strong institutional commitment toward student growth and the development of individual responsibility. To further this goal, the university embraces the concept that catastrophic financial risks while attending the university should be minimized. To this end, the University of Colorado Boulder endorses a policy of mandatory health insurance requiring that all students on the UCB campus be covered by a comprehensive health insurance plan. Students may elect coverage under their own insurance, through their employer or their parents' policies, or the university will provide an insurance plan for eligible students* designed to meet most students' needs.

The University of Colorado Boulder encourages students to research various health plan options so that they may make informed healthcare choices.
