Assistant Professor in Math and AI

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning in Fall 2027 (August 2027). We are especially interested in candidates working at the interface of artificial intelligence and mathematics. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the mathematical foundations of AI, formalization and automated reasoning, advancement of AI for mathematical research, and AI safety. We seek candidates who can lead development of AI-related research, education, and programming within the Department of Mathematics and across the CU Boulder campus.  
 
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in mathematics or a closely related field by the start of the appointment. Successful candidates will be expected to maintain an active, independent research program, to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and to contribute to the service and intellectual life of the department.​

Visiting Assistant Professor in Math and AI​

We invite applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) position in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Colorado Boulder, to begin in August 2027. The initial appointment is for two years, renewable for a third year. Candidates must have a PhD in mathematics or a related field before the position begins. 

The department is looking for candidates who have demonstrated excellence in research and who present documented evidence of strong teaching potential. Departmental and university research interests and priorities will be taken into account in selecting candidates.

Assistant Professor in Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics invites applications for a tenure-track position, at the level of Assistant Professor. We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in the areas of algebraic geometry, homotopy theory, foundations, and functional analysis, as well as candidates with expertise that involves interdisciplinary collaboration between mathematics and computer science or the mathematics of quantum physics. Outstanding applicants from any research area may be considered. This position will start in the Fall 2027 semester (August 2027).

Instructional Associate

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Colorado, Boulder invites applications for a one academic semester or one academic year, non-tenure-track positions at the rank of Lecturer, to commence January 1, 2027. The salary is $31,100, per semester, based on the teaching load of four, 3-credit courses. There is an additional pay of $750 per credit hour taught for courses with more than 3 credits. Appointments of 50% or more are eligible for benefits. This position may be renewable.

Candidates must have at least a Master’s Degree in mathematics, as well as some experience teaching mathematics at the university level.
