Fall 2025 | First-Year Students and Returning Residence Hall Move-in

Welcome to your new on-campus home! We are excited to have you living on campus. First-year and returning student residence hall move-in will take place between Sunday, Aug. 17 - Tuesday, Aug. 19.

All residents are required to schedule a move-in appointment. You may self-select a move-in appointment between June 25 at 9 a.m. through July 8 at 11:59 p.m. If you have not self-selected an appointment by July 8, one will be assigned to you.

To self-select a move-in appointment between June 25-July 8:

  • Log in to your MyCULiving portal and select “Move-in appointments” from the top, gold, bar.
  • Complete a brief questionnaire that will help us prepare for your arrival. Click “Save and Continue.”
  • Select the date, and time, of your desired move-in appointment. Click “Save and continue.”
  • Drop off day is an optional opportunity, for a cost, to come to campus early, see your room, and drop items into your space.  If you’d like to schedule a drop off day appointment, select an available date and time, then click “save and continue” again. If you do not wish to schedule a drop off appointment, simply skip the page by clicking “save and continue” without selecting a date/time.
  • You will receive an automated email receipt of your appointment date and time. If you do not receive an automated receipt, please confirm that you have saved the last page.

In order to ensure you are able to fully participate in College Days before classes begin, residence hall students will move-in between Sunday, Aug. 17 - Tuesday, Aug. 19. For the best opportunity to connect with others in your community, first-year residents are strongly encouraged to arrive by Tuesday, August 19. If a late-arrival appointment is needed, email reslife@colorado.edu.

Drop Off Day

Tuesday, August 12 | Optional, for a $20 non-refundable fee to participate in Drop Off Day.
Due to summer school housing, Drop Off Day appointments are not available to students living in Kittredge Central, Bear Creek or Weber Hall.

We are excited to provide students with an opportunity to come to campus early, see and measure their room and drop off their belongings in advance of move-in. Drop Off Day is an optional opportunity that gives you access to your space before everyone else arrives. Past students that have participated in Drop Off Days have appreciated moving items into their room while there are far fewer people in the building.

Drop Off Day is open to residents from most halls, and is especially ideal for:

  • Students anxious about living on campus and that may benefit from getting an early glimpse of their space
  • Students that anticipate needing longer amounts of time to move-in
  • Students that are eager to measure their space
  • Students whose family members may not be available to come to campus during move-in

Beginning on June 25, at the same time students self-select their move-in appointment, students will be able to reserve a drop off time for August 12. During their drop off appointment, students will be able to unload personal items directly into their assigned room and to get a feel for their space, though they will not be able to unpack or decorate.

To select a Drop Off Day appointment,

  • Log into your MyCULiving portal and click “move in appointments” in the top gold bar.
  • Complete a brief questionnaire that will help us prepare for your arrival. Click “Save and Continue.”
  • Select your move-in appointment date and time.
  • Once you have selected your move-in timeslot, click “save and continue” at the bottom of the page. You will automatically be advanced to the Drop Off Days appointments pages. Select the date and time of your desired drop off appointment.
  • Be sure to click ‘save and continue’ a second time. You will receive an automated confirmation email once you have saved your appointment.

The last day to select, change, or cancel your drop off appointment is Sunday, July 27 at 11:59 p.m. There are a limited number of appointments available, and it is possible that all appointments for your hall will be selected before the July 27 deadline.

Important information about Drop Off Day

  • Due to additional staffing and key card needs, there is a $20 non-refundable fee to participate in Drop Off Day. This fee will be applied directly to your student account after move-in.
  • Students will NOT be checked-in during this process, and will not be able to spend the night in their space until after their move-in appointment. This is an opportunity to unload belongings into your room only.
  • Students that participate in Drop Off Day will still need to schedule a check-in appointment for the week of Aug. 17. During your appointment in the week of Aug. 17 you will be checked into your hall and receive card access.
  • Students will be asked to leave items in sealed containers (boxes, luggage, storage totes) and to complete the unpacking and decorating of their space when they return later in August. In the unlikely event of last-minute room assignment changes, university staff will move items to the new assignment prior to move-in.
  • The number of available appointments on each day are limited, and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Drop Off Day is not available for students living in Kittredge Central, Bear Creek or Weber Hall, students with temporary assignments or Residence Life student staff.
  • Drop off appointments are available between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. All students must vacate the building by 3 p.m., and are welcome to come-and-go as many times as needed before 3 p.m.
  • Residence Life is only able to issue room access to the student. Students must be present during the duration of their drop off appointment.
  • The excitement of move-in will begin on Friday, Aug. 15. During Drop Off Day, the residence halls may not be fully ready for move-in. You will find that there will be limited staff and wayfinding present during your appointment.

Drop Off Day Parking

Parking permits will be pre-printed and provided to you when you arrive to your Drop Off Day appointment. You will receive your parking permit from the Community Center front desk within your residence hall.

Printing your parking permit

parking

Beginning on Aug. 8, all students will be able to download and print their move-in parking permit. A move-in permit is required to access campus between Aug. 19-22.

Parking permits must be printed, and placed with the QR code visible on your dashboard before arriving to campus.

To support the most efficient traffic flow, each parking permit is color coordinated, and corresponds to your residence hall assignment. When possible, printing your pass in color helps Police and Parking staff direct you to the best location, expediting your move-in.

During move-in, you will unload your vehicle from a parking lot that corresponds to the color of your parking permit. Once unloaded, you will move your vehicle to any orange (extended) parking lot.

To print your permit:

  1. Go to https://buffportal.colorado.edu
  2. Log in using your identikey and password
  3. Click “Print move-in parking permit”
