Campus Housing Protocols For Higher Risk Infectious Diseases
Employing up-to-date guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in combination with recommendations from local and state public health authorities, we continually update our processes around managing infectious disease risks for the residential student community.
For our on campus residents:
The best protection against vaccine preventable diseases such as measles, mumps, pertussis (whooping cough), varicella (chickenpox), COVID-19 and seasonal influenza is vaccination. If you would like to receive a vaccine or need help figuring out if you are vaccinated, you can schedule an immunization appointment in Medical Services at Wardenburg through your patient portal (mycuhealth.colorado.edu) or by calling 303-492-5101.
Environmental services provides cleaning supplies like disinfecting wipes, floor sweepers and vacuums at the community centers in each residence hall. Students are encouraged to visit the community center desk and ask for what they need. Please bring the cleaning products back when done.
The state of Colorado requires the MMR vaccine for those attending institutions of higher education. Historically, the University of Colorado Boulder has achieved a greater than 95% vaccination rate with MMR amongst the student population. Your responsibility as a residential community member
Continue to utilize public health and illness prevention measures:
- Students in suites with private bathrooms should clean their restrooms and high-touched surfaces frequently.
- Wash your hands regularly and for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer when soap and water aren't available.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or use the inside of your elbow.
- Wear your mask as directed.
Speak to your roommate(s) about keeping a healthy living space to help set expectations. Discuss the following:
- How often will each of you be cleaning your space?
- What is your comfort level with guests in your room?
- Will you, or your guest, wear a mask in your room?
- What is your plan if you or your roommate(s) test positive for COVID-19?
If you have concerns that your roommate(s) are not following campus health and safety guidelines after having a conversation with them, you can connect with Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution for support and guidance.
Resources if you are sick
- If you are sick, you may use Nutrislice to pre-order meals from grab-and-go locations.
- Please wear a mask to pick up your food or have a friend or roommate pick up your food.
If you are ill and need extra support working with academic faculty, contact Student Support and Case Management for recommendations.
