Recent research outcomes include game-based net art, live audio/visual performances, transmedia narratives, book sprints, hybdrized print and electronic publications, and mobile cinema.

MAL Media Archaeology Lab

Media Archaeology Lab

Nearly all digital media labs are conceived of as places for experimental research using the most up-to-date, cutting-edge tools available. However, the Media Archaeology Lab founded by Professor Lori Emerson – which is widely considered the largest of its kind in North America – is a place for hands-on, cross-disciplinary experimental research and teaching using still-functioning but obsolete tools, software, hardware, platforms from the past.

ATLAS Black Box

The Center for Media, Arts and Performance two-story, 2,700-square-foot Black Box performance theater provides digital technology for interdisciplinary performances that combine traditional and experimental media of all types, with work from students, faculty and invited guest artists at the intersection of music, dance, visual art, theater, film, creative writing, new media, digital poetry, video production, digital cinema, webcasts, and interactive audio and visual performances. In this state-of-the-art environment, students and faculty can seamlessly merge creative endeavors with the latest in digital technology. The center also houses a television production studio, located adjacent to the Black Box.
