Summer 2018 Publications

We have a diverse set of new publications out recently!

Tim Clarkin's master's work, published in Journal of Water Resources Planning and Management, showed the effect of including preference constraints on optimizing water resources problems -- both on how easy it is to interpret the tradeoffs, and whether or not the constraints make the problem easier to solve. The paper was co-authored by Clarkin, Prof. Kasprzyk, and Prof. Jon Herman of the University of California Davis.

Rebecca Smith also has a study published in the Journal of Water Resources Planning and Management, which presents the Eldorado Utiltiy Model and demonstrates interesting ways of formulating water resources planning problems, including objectives and decisions in a manner informed by our ongoing work engaging water managers in the Front Range of Colorado. The paper was co-authoed by Smith, Prof. Kasprzyk, and Leon Basdekas of Black and Veatch.

Mikaela DeRousseau published a review of computational optimization for concrete mix design, in Cement and Concrete Research. This extensive review paper highlights different types of property modeling and optimization formulations in this field, co-authored by DeRousseau, Prof. Kasprzyk, and Prof. Wil Srubar.
