Join EDJI

The EDJI Lab offers opportunities for undergraduate and post-bachelor student Research Assistants. Responsibilities typically include designing experiments and materials, conducting experiments, coding and analyzing data, participating in laboratory discussions, and presenting data at conferences. We ask for a minimum 12 hr/wk commitment, for a minimum of two semesters. This arrangement allows you and the lab group to benefit from your training and skills. Post-bachelors students, Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors are particularly encouraged to apply. RAs typically have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

Undergraduate students work in the lab in a variety of capacities including: academic credit (independent study), UROP undergraduate fellowships, senior honors, and volunteering. The lab has a very good record of helping students reach their post graduation goals, including admission to grad school in Psychology, Law, and Business (e.g., Colorado, Northwestern, NYU, Stanford, Chicago, Virginia).

If you would like to join the lab, please email the following information to leaflab@colorado.edu:

  1. Cover Letter indicating interests, what kind of research experience you are seeking, what capacity you would like to work in (work study, academic credit, etc.), and when you would be available to start
  2. Resume
  3. Transcript (unofficial transcripts OK)

First-year students submit cover letter, including any relevant experience you've had.

Funding & Professional Support

The EDJI lab is a lab host with the Uplift Undergraduate Research Program and the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Center (UROP) at CU Boulder. Our lab also includes members who are active in professional societies such as the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS), which has awarded us additional funding opportunities. We invite you to inquire about applying for funding through these programs.

There are also many other funding opportunities you can apply to within and outside of the University of Colorado Boulder to support your work with the EDJI lab. Undergraduate students are highly encouraged to apply for grants/awards and seek support from lab mentors. We have developed a timeline of possible grants you may be interested in applying to (right) and a list of grants and awards you might be interested in.
