Our paper on understanding the true resistance of support layer in thin film composite membrane is published!

Check out our new publication on understanding the true permeation resistance of porous support in high-pressure RO process. It is conventional wisdom in the membrane community that support layer does not contribute to the overall resistance of RO membranes. Our study show that this is not true under high pressure RO process where significant deformation of the porous suport layer occurs. The work shows that true resitance of support layer must be measured under high pressure, low permeation condition as encountered in the RO process, while current method of high pressure high permeation does not measure the true resistance.
