Keala grew up in Colorado and is now a junior at the University of Colorado Boulder studying chemical and biological engineering. She is both on the pre-med track and is minoring in leadership studies and computational biology. Previously, she worked in a biomedical research lab under Dr. James Scott-Browne at National Jewish Health / CU Anschutz analyzing T cell receptor variability and its role in the onset of acute insulitis. She is now studying the molecular resurrection of several transposable elements in bovidae. Outside of the lab, she enjoys reading and baking and is excited to be studying abroad in Singapore in the fall of 2022.
