BS (Molecular Biology), University of Denver

Carmen grew up in the Colorado Front Range, and attended the University of Denver as an undergraduate, where she received a BS degree in molecular biology, with a secondary major in anthropology. During her time there, she worked in the lab of Schuyler Van Engelenburg, studying viral assembly during HIV infection. After graduating, she stayed in Dr. Van Engelenburg’s lab to earn her MS degree in cell and molecular biology. Carmen is now a PhD student at CU Boulder, in the department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology. She joined the Chuong Lab to study ERV’s and other transposons and their role in the genome. Outside the lab, she enjoys skiing, traveling, and tango.
