Two Graduate Assistant Positions

The Program in Jewish Studies invites applications for two Graduate Assistant positions during the 2019-2020 academic year, one for Fall 2019 and one for Spring 2020. These are a 30% appointment for 12 hours per week. The positions carry a tuition remission for 6 credit hours along with a monthly stipend. The stipend amount is determined by the Graduate School and is subject to change. (Funding for the 2018-2019 academic year was $6,435.44 divided over five months.)

The responsibilities of the GA may include:

  • attending class sessions
  • leading discussions
  • holding office hours
  • meeting with students
  • grading assignments
  • other duties specified by the instructor

Graduate students wishing to apply for this position must meet all conditions specified by the Graduate School. In addition, applicants should submit the following materials:

  1. a CV
  2. an unofficial transcript
  3. a statement of up to 500 words outlining any prior work with the Program in Jewish Studies, degree progress to date, any prior teaching experience (at CU Boulder or elsewhere), and any academic background relevant to the course.
  4. a letter of support from your faculty advisor

All components of the application -- with the exception of the advisor letter -- should be submitted electronically as one PDF file to CUJewishStudies@colorado.edu. The advisor letter should be sent separately to CUJewishStudies@colorado.edu by the faculty member.

**Please read the important information below about student overloads.**

The extended deadline for submission is Friday, April 12, 2019 by 5:00PM.

Important: About Student Overloads
Per university policy, graduate students cannot work beyond 50% time (20 hours per week) in their combined on-campus work without permission from the Graduate School. The maximum number of hours students can work on campus is 25 hours (62.5% appointment). Petitions for beyond these hours will not be approved by the Graduate School. If receiving a GA or GRA position would make you exceed 50% time, you must inform Jewish Studies in your application of your intention to submit a "Petition for Over 50% Appointments for Graduate Students." Please note that you will need to submit this petition to the graduate school after you receive the position (not prior), and it must be reviewed and signed by your academic faculty advisor. Approval of your petition is not guaranteed.
