Spring 2027 - Ph.D. Position in Infrastructure Risk and Community Resilience

The Innovation for Resilient Infrastructure (IRI) Research Group is recruiting a Ph.D. student to conduct research on infrastructure management, with emphasis on risk assessment and community resilience. The student will quantify the risk of emerging transportation infrastructure systems and the impacts of natural hazards on community mobility. The successful applicant will enroll in the Ph.D. program in Construction Engineering and Management at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder), with an expected start date in Spring 2027.

Qualifications:

  • Completed or near-completion of a Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Infrastructure Systems, or a closely related field;
  • Strong background in transportation engineering or infrastructure systems;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including technical writing experience;
  • Experience with data analysis, simulation modeling, or optimization methods;
  • Demonstrated self-motivation, initiative, and ability to manage work at the project level.

Final admission decisions to the Ph.D. program are made by the university.
