Congrats, Dr. Jordan Lum!!!

Jan. 10, 2020

Jordan Lum successfully defended his doctoral thesis on Optical Measurements of Single Microbuble Viscoelastic Properties. While in our lab at CU Boulder, Dr. Lum published 3 papers in excellent journals, such as Langmuir and Applied Physics Letters , has one more paper in review, and gave five conference proceedings. Jordan...

Borden, Kwan and Sirsi

ASA in San Diego

Jan. 7, 2020

Mark Borden recently gave two invited talks at the Acoustical Society of America meeting in San Diego . "Biomimetic lung surfactant nanodrops for acoustic droplet vaporization" "Using the Doppler effect to characterize microbubble shell viscoelasticity" The Cavitation Nuclei sessions were organized by laboratory alumni Shashank Sirsi and James Kwan !

J. Surgical Research Paper

Nov. 22, 2019

This original research article reports on a collaboration with Benjamin Terry from the University of Nebraska to test oxygen microbubble therapy in a rodent model of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Animals receiving peritoneal microbubble oxygenation (PMO) showed a clear survival benefit over controls.

Our research article on microbubble displacements in plane-wave versus focused-wave transmissions was chosen for the cover story for IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control.

IUS2019

International Ultrasonics Symposium in Glasgow, Scotland

Oct. 24, 2019

The group had a strong showing at the 2019 IUS meeting in Glasgow . Prof. Borden gave a short course on ultrasound contrast agents, together with Hendrik Vos, and he chaired a scientific session on Microbubble Dynamics and Formulations. Kang-Ho Song, Jordan Lum, Gazendra Shakya and Prof. Borden all gave...

Invited Talks at ICU 2019

Sept. 7, 2019

Professor Borden and (former postdoc) Professor Supponen gave an invited talks at the 2019 International Congress on Ultrasonics in Bruges, Belgium.

Plane Wave MSD

New Ultrasonics Paper

Aug. 26, 2019

This paper reports on the use of plane-wave vs. focused-wave ultrasound imaging trasmissions to induce primary radiation force on a microbubble ultrasound contrast agents with multi-gate spectral doppler analysis of the recieved echoes to determine their velocity profiles. It is an important step toward manipulating and controlling microbubbles for applications...

Farewell to Outi!

July 16, 2019

Dr. Outi Supponen joined the laboratory in March 2018 as a postdoctoral fellow funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. While here, Outi worked on the open platform ultasound system (ULA-OP) to take Doppler measurements of microbubble displacements under acoustic radiation force. She successfully modeled the displacements, allowing her to...
