Nick grew up playing sports and skiing in Northern California and eventually found a passion for the study of history and classics. He went on to earn a BA and an MA from Fresno State and a PhD from UCLA. After graduation, he came to Colorado to continue his research and teach ancient history at the University of Denver; during this time, he also played in several bands in the local music scene in Denver. He published his first book, Thebes: A History, with Routledge in 2017 and is currently researching and writing another book on citizen-soldiers in the ancient Middle East and Mediterranean. He is new to academic advising and excited about the opportunity to support students in their academic pursuits at CU Boulder. Nick loves traveling and spending time outdoors with his partner Christine.
