Nick Rockwell

Nick Rockwell earned his BA and MA from California State University, Fresno, and his PhD from UCLA. He began his career as a faculty member in the Department of History at the University of Denver and then the Department of Political Science at CU Denver, where he led community building and civic engagement initiatives in addition to teaching a broad range of interdisciplinary courses and supervising advanced research projects. His first book, Thebes: A History, was published by Routledge in 2017; and he is currently writing a second book on freedom and democracy in the ancient Middle East and Mediterranean. At CU Boulder, he has continued to advance academic excellence and student success through research, teaching, advising, strategic initiatives, and cross-campus collaboration. He is a dedicated advocate for the transformative mission of higher education. Outside of work, Nick enjoys traveling, skiing, and spending time outdoors with his partner, Christine.
