Raised in Northern Colorado, Luz first attended Colorado State University, studying music education, cello performance, and interdisciplinary liberal arts. Following her passion for research and culture, Luz transferred to UCLA, where she graduated with dual degrees in ethnomusicology and comparative literature. Luz's interest in international education took her to the United Kingdom for graduate school, where she researched an LGBTQ+ community orchestra and a political treatise from southern Bolivia.
In her advising practice, Luz brings enthusiasm and empathy to supporting students, with a passion for fostering curiosity, confidence, and critical thinking. Luz enjoys live music and experimental media, reading and writing critical theory, and exploring cultural sensations from around the world.
