Mathematics + Quantitative Finance Certificate

Mathematics majors learn knowledge and awareness of topics such as basic real analysis of one variable, calculus of several variables and vector analysis, and the structure of mathematical proofs. Students will also acquire the ability and skills to move from concrete to abstract thinking; recognize patterns and connections between mathematics and other subjects; and construct logical arguments that they can articulate both verbally and in writing.
The Quantitative Finance certificate helps prepare students for careers in analytical problem solving. Students will take classes in math, economics, and finance as well as take introductory courses to Python and Java.

The Philosophy major trains students to think rigorously about the deepest and most difficult questions we can ask about the world and our place in it. Students learn about both contemporary and historical philosophers as well as philosophical movements. Additionally philosophy majors gain skills in logical argument and critical examination as well as argument and written and oral communication.
The Applied Mathematics minor provides in-depth training in mathematical techniques, computational methods, and problem-solving strategies.

Statistics and Data Science + Computer Science Minor

The Statistics and Data Science major examines both traditional statistical methods and cutting edge data analysis techniques. Students learn the cross-disciplinary statistical and analytical tools and problem-solving strategies required to solve real world problems.
The Computer Science minor offers a basic introduction to the field of computer science. Students complete coursework in topics such as computer systems, data structures and programming.

Global Studies Physics + Statistics Minor

The Physics major provides knowledge of the physical concepts that are basic to the laws of nature, and the ability to use these fundamental concepts to answer questions and solve real problems. Students also gain an understanding of the relationship of physics to other fields such as astronomy, biology, engineering, chemistry and medicine.
The minor in statistics teaches students how to analyze, visualize and describe data.

The Economics major examines how governments, businesses, households and individuals choose to allocate their various needs and wants, including the production, distribution and consumption of materials goods and services and the positive and negative consequences of changes in economic activities and government policies.
The minor in mathematics emphasizes knowledge and awareness of: calculus of several variables and vector analysis; the structure of mathematical proofs and definitions; basic linear algebra and the theory of vector spaces; and at least one additional specialized area of mathematics.
