Student studying

Students in the Design Your Path LLC are required and will be automatically enrolled in two, 1-credit courses during their first semester: FYXP 1500 and FYXP 2200. While FYXP 1500 is not required, students who have completed this course have shown themselves to be more successful during their first year on campus and report it being a valuable first-semester experience.

FYXP 1500: First Year Success Seminar

Designed as an “accountability partner” to support first-year students in a successful transition to college, students in FYXP 1500 complete weekly missions that incentivize them to utilize campus resources, practice academic skills and behaviors, and productively reflect on their habits during first semester. Students can expect to allocate up to 1 hour of work each week on a variety of tasks that will get them exploring campus with purpose. This course is online and asynchronous and successful completion gives students 1 elective credit hour.

FYXP 2200: Portrait of an Explorer

Portrait of an Explorer is based on the premise that when students are empowered, connected, impactful, and thriving, they are successful academically and personally. This course challenges students to broaden their scope on the purpose of college to include not only career readiness, but how to notice, identify, and replicate experiences that bring them meaning. Through this course, living learning community residents will build relationships with peers, student mentors, and CU instructors who will truly know them. Learning experiences are interactive, hands-on, and help students clarify and articulate their "why” for being in college. This course is only offered in the fall semester to residents within the Design Your Path LLC and enrollment is required for LLC participation. This course is taught in-person weekly and successful completion gives students 1 elective credit hour.
