The sun is shining, the semester has ended and summer is finally here. This can be a great time to focus on you. We’ve put together a list of free online sites to help you buff up your skills. 

Whether you want to build professional or personal skills, there are a variety of resources available for you to learn new things. Using your IdentiKey or signing up for a free account, the learning possibilities are endless. Here are a few websites to get you started.

LinkedIn Learning

With your Identikey you have access to a wide range of classes. Whether you want to learn photography or project management, you’ve got it all at your fingertips. We recommend Social Media Marketing Foundations or How to Network when you don’t like Networking; and, if you can, even try building your Interpersonal Skills.

Coursera

Coursera gives you the opportunity to learn things that spark an interest or build your résumé skills. Everyday Excel part 1, Teamwork Skills: Communicating Effectively in Groups, or even Frozen in the Ice: Exploring the Arctic are few we recommend. 

edX

This global nonprofit offers free courses from top universities in the world. Have you always wanted to understand the basics of business? Try Effective Business Writing, or how about grasping the world of engineers? Introduction to Aerospace: Structures and Materials could be fun. Maybe you’re intrigued by why people think the way they do, Exploring Psychologies Core Concepts might give you some insight.  

Want to continue practicing your language skills?

Check out some websites below to help you stay current. With simple, easy-to-use lessons, games and other activities, you can continue practicing or learn almost any language. Sign up with a free account and you’ll be ordering crêpes “à la française” when summer ends. 

MIT OpenCourseware

If you want to learn more about a specific field, especially in the math or sciences you can check out their free webpage. Fundamentals of probability or Introduction to Nanoelectronics are some of the courses you can try. 

Udemy

With a free subscription and over 100,000 online courses, there is no limit to what you can learn. You can try A Mini Course on Achieving Your Dreams or How to be an epic Failure.

Skill Share

Skill Share has classes on topics that can fuel your interest and your passion. You can sign up for free and access a variety of classes. Choose Happiness Now or How to Use the Plan App to Grow Your Instagram are a few we suggest.

Alison offers several courses you can take to develop professional skills. We suggest Transformational Leadership or Job Offer Formula: How to Land Your Ideal Job.

YouTube

The most well-known video site has videos about almost anything. You don’t need to have an account, just type in what you want to learn and you’re set to go. You can try Step by Step: Growing Tomatoes from Seed or how about How to build Self-Discipline Lesson #1: How to form a habit.

Remember, you don’t have to train every single day, but choosing one or two things you can learn more about this summer can bolster your personal and professional development. The sky's the limit, so make some time to focus on you and get learning.
